Blessed is the one you choose and bring near,
to dwell in your courts!
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
the holiness of your temple!Psalm 65:4
Psalm 65 was my Psalm of the day, and it was particularly striking to me. That the sovereign, almighty Creator of the Universe would choose me, with absolutely nothing to offer a God so great, to dwell in his courts forever… amazing.
Like so many in the west I have so much to be thankful for that I rarely properly thank God for. I think in general I have a sense of thankfulness, but that is not the same as actually taking the time to give thanks to God. So today after my readings I did just that. In the prayer portion of my REAP journal entry I listed everything I could think of – just writing down my specific thanks to the Lord. It was a particularly impactful prayer.
If you are having trouble being grateful to God, I would encourage you to read some of David’s thanksgiving Psalms and then write your own, or create a list, or make a photo collage, or any other inspiring way of showing your thanks to the Lord.
